Zionsville High School is having their first ever homecoming tailgate on Friday, September 22, and it is open to all clubs, teams, classes, and faculty departments.

To celebrate the homecoming football game and dance, the Zionsville Department is hosting a tailgate for any Zionsville residents. Anybody can come join the fun from 5:15-6:30 PM in the marching band practice lot. The school will provide the grills for the event, but each attendee must bring their own food, drinks, tailgate games, plates, forks, burger flippers, and meat.

“I just wanted to do something new for Homecoming that would get as many students involved as possible,” Assistant Principal Matt Walter said.

To add to the fun, there is a wagon float contest. Enter your small, red wagon, decorated to fit the theme of “We are one ZCHS”. In attempt to show off the “awesomeness” of Zionsville High School, the wagons will be showcased and judged at the tailgate. Plus, the groups with the best floats will all win surprise prizes.

“I’m honestly so excited for this tailgate. I think it’ll be really fun to hang out before the game with a bunch of friends. Plus it’s cool because a bunch of different clubs will all be together for the first time,” Sydney Aguirre, freshman, said about why she plans on attending the tailgate.

This get together is a way to promote school spirit before Zionsville competes against Hamilton South Eastern. Everyone should come attend this pre-football tailgate in order to get excited before homecoming weekend!

“The goal is to showcase all the cool things we have for students at our school and to bring people together for some relaxed fun,” said Walter.
