The Zionsville Boys Soccer team is having an incredible year so far. With a 9-0-2 record, their confidence levels are through the roof. They have been able to come out victorious against very strong competition, such as Carmel and Westfield. With three grades representing the varsity team, this creates a more diverse environment for the team and allows players to make more friendships.

Noah Backhaus is a senior varsity soccer player for Zionsville. His position is midfielder, which is primarily an offensive role. He enjoys many parts of the soccer program and has many great memories as being a part of the program.

“My favorite part about being on the team is all of the new friendships and bonds I’ve made with my teammates and how close we have become with each other. My favorite memory is beating Carmel and celebrating with the team after the win,” Backhaus said.

Jack Seamands is a junior varsity soccer player for Zionsville. He plays the forward position, which is also primarily an offensive role. The forwards are constantly moving and trying to score goals. Seamands also touched on his enjoyment of spending time with the team and having a great fan base for the team.

“My favorite memory is being able to spend time with the whole team down in Bloomington,” Seamands said. “That was a huge step for us to become close and has definitely helped us this season. My favorite part about the soccer program is being able to play for my school and having one of the best student sections in the state always coming out to watch.”

Christopher Freeman is a sophomore varsity soccer player for Zionsville. His position, along with Jack Seamands, is forward. Since he is only a sophomore, Freeman has not been with the program as long as some of the other players, but has already become comfortable with the team and has made some great memories so far.

“My favorite part of being on the Zionsville team is the brotherhood we form. We all joke around together and always have a great time,” Freeman said. “My favorite memory was the game against Carmel. We knew the game would be tough, especially since it was our first game. The environment was very exciting and fun to play in. That first win really sparked our team and that game is something we won’t forget.”

In conclusion, the Zionsville soccer team has a special bond that no teammate wants to break. The Eagles have four games left in the regular season, then move on to sectionals, where they look to have much success.
