The Zionsville girls’ lacrosse team is still going strong for their spring season. The girls’ team has been very consistent in earning wins against all ranking teams in Indiana. The Varsity and JV teams have worked very hard to get where they are since the start of the season. The Varsity captains Natalie Miller, Cam Pokrifcak, and Sydney Blake have led the girls to a fun and dedicated season. Cassidy Girouard, Rachel Ranieri, and Katherine Heiss, JV captains, have done a great job as well. Since the beginning of May, Zionsville has played teams from Carmel, Culver, and Noblesville. The girls won against Carmel, a tough but lower ranked opponent, with a score of 9-7. More recently this past Saturday, Zionsville beat Culver at a home match 11-10. On Tuesday, May 10th, Zionsville played a conference against Noblesville and lost 8-10. The overall score now for the girls team is 12-7 and their conference overall score is 4-2. Their state rank is 5, with teams like Noblesville, HSE-Fishers, and Cathedral above them for the season. If students want to come see one of the last games of the regular season, Zionsville has a game against Castle. It is a home non-conference game on Saturday, May 14th.

After the regular season, the lacrosse teams heads for the playoffs to play some large conference games against teams all over Indiana.

“I’m excited to see how the rest of the season will play out and how far we will go in playoffs,” Mary Slaughter, sophomore, said.

Slaughter has loved being able to play on Varsity, especially after having to end last season early due to a leg injury. She believes that the season has gone very well; they have had some key wins to put them where they are today. The biggest accomplishment for her has been defeating Culver and Carmel, their toughest opponents.
